Dark Night of the Gods

Origins of the End Part 1

(endicottkid@yahoo.com) ::Origins of the End Part 1::
The council has been called. Coatlique, as you will one day be named, your children have grown unruly. Mad. You’ve been courted by those who seek to destroy all of you.

Fand, oh wee Fairy Queen, you’re just an attendant to these proceedings. You know, because your trickster god husband has totally always seen you as a meek little fairy. It’s why you know he can trust you to fuck things up the right way.

5:46
Well, she’s a fae who likes animals (or so I think, anyway), and so I’ve set her up in an incredibly overgrown area, like the Amazon in a way—wild in the thick over growth, with animals scattered throughout. There a snake, there a crocodile, there some birds. I’d be concerned she’d think I was spying, but frankly I’ve got a better spy out there and I know she can control the animals just as well as I. There, too, are a few of my attendants—quiet, forever polite ones, because you never want to piss off one of the fae.

[Hands of Power]
AIM
5:48
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) They walk out into your wild, untamed lands, Coatlique, and most are filled with wonder, beyond your spy and the bitch herself. Even the young Danu is obviously marveling over your splendor.
5:48
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Hera, however, takes one look at it and rolls her eyes. “There isn’t even a table. Where’s the culture?”
5:49
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Manny seems to think this is hilarious.
5:49
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Danu chides her cousin to quiet.
5:49
(aaron.grey) I make my way through the flora and fauna, smiling contentedly. I tell a few of the snakes to go and find Hera should she deign to stay the night in this place.

Mackenzie Weaver

5:50
Ah, Hera. I could have five thousand statues and there would be a problem. I lounge in a tree-throne, casually suckling a child (not monster-like, yet, anyway) on my breast. “Culture is in more than tables and art, Hera.”

(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Hera looks pissed.
5:55
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Manannan… where’d he go?
5:56
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Apollo: “And what have you seen to bring you to the winning side?” he asks the Morrigan.
5:56
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Morrigan: “If you haven’t seen it, you fail your many glorious epithets.”

I smirk a little bit at these back and forth barbs, casually dropping the infant into a hand and holding it out to the side so an attendant can grab it. I barely give it any time, but one is there. (endicottkid@yahoo.com) Morrigan: “Because you know I will kill you,” she tells her mother.

Mackenzie Weaver

6:02
“Oh I am.” I say then. My eyes drift to Morrigan, studying her for a moment, before dismissively moving back toward Athena. “I aim to live until the end, when you upstarts are thrown back down into the depths and replaced by the new, too. A cycle that happens over and over.”

[Hands of Power]

6:03
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Danu: “We seek only a homeland for our people.”
6:04
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Hera’s suddenly in a grander throne, surrounded by peacock feathers of all colors the mortal eye can see, and many they can’t.

Mackenzie Weaver

6:06
“The folly of the young to think they are immortal,” I say, dismissive. As if to emphasize my point, I immediately reach down and a moment later I’ve got another babe, red-faced, squawling—and a moment later I tuck it to my breast, without even seeming to pay much attention to it. A snake, wrapped around my leg, hisses irritably. My eyes glance to Hera, before looking to the others again. Poor girl. Has to try so hard to think she’s worth something. It’s like the struggle of a mortal right before he dies.

[Hands of Power]

(endicottkid@yahoo.com) “And the folly of a parent to think its children less capable of destroying its parents,” retorts Hera.

Mackenzie Weaver
AIM
6:09
“Thwarting prophecies makes them come true all the stronger.” I say, obviously not giving a shit. I sit forward. “I tire of talking with a child who thinks she can avoid a cycle older than her.” My eyes roam then to focus on Athena, obviously dismissing Hera for her. “What are your demands in this?”

[Hands of Power]
AIM
6:09
(aaron.grey) Ah yes, their perpetual fear of death. Fools. I continue to coax the serpents on the edge of the land to come forward, climbing the trees around the gathering. Why should they suspect I’m not there with an appropriately demure expression on my face? I am, to foolish eyes. The snakes will occasionally snatch a bird like an owl from the air, coiling around it. We’ll see how the gray-eyed witch and her queen perceive the omen.
6:11
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Athena’s eyes settle on Fand. Enemies are born in that moment.
6:12
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) What are you stealing, Fand?
6:13
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Athena: “I have come up with a grand plan. One that no mind can unravel,” she says as simple fact.

Mackenzie Weaver
AIM
6:13
“Please, do not keep us on the edge of our seats,” I say, deadpan.

[Hands of Power]
AIM
6:14
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Apollo: “It’s at least a decent plan.” He sits on a golden throne beside the illusory fairy queen.
6:14
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Athena smiles. “You cannot be privy to it. Your mind is weak to the madness of your kind.”

Mackenzie Weaver
AIM
6:16
I’d roll my eyes, but that would take more effort than I care to give for this lot. My eyes instead turn to the Morrigan, as I shift the baby to a palm and drop it into the arms of an attendant. “Your demands?”

[Hands of Power]
AIM
6:17
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) The Morrigan speaks quietly. “An army. One who will stop at nothing to achieve our goals.”
6:17
(aaron.grey) I’ll continue to roam along the periphery. I’ll snatch up a feather from Hera’s intricate throne. Manannan may be able to use it later.

Mackenzie Weaver
AIM
6:19
“Mm. Any more demands?” My eyes lazily roam the group.

[Hands of Power]
AIM
6:19
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Athena: “Your heart.”
6:19

6:20
“My heart.” I say then.

[Hands of Power]

(endicottkid@yahoo.com) “Your heart, for with it, we have the heartsblood of all your children. With it, I will purge your line and your own madness by giving it to them,” continues Athena.
6:22
(aaron.grey) This gives me an idea. I slink away, heading back to slaughter an animal. I think a boar might be about the right size.
6:22
(aaron.grey) Or no, a crocodile. Yes, that will do nicely.
6:23
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) You can easily slaughter one. No one will even be any the wiser for it.

(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Hera, the spurned on, looks to Coatlique and smiles. “Of course you may have these things. If that’s what you want.”
6:25
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Fand, you know how bad those words are.
6:25
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Coatlique, you do not.
6:26
(aaron.grey) I set something into motion. Something very small.
6:27
(aaron.grey) I need Apollo to draw his golden bow. He may not shed blood, but he will invoke Danu’s ire at the most dramatic moment, at the height of this deal. It will make the ideal distraction for me to replace the heart.
6:28
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Athena: “If we cannot use the magics to purge your children, war will destroy them all the more,” she cautions.
6:28
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) So it started.
6:30
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Manannan appears beside Fand, invisible to all but her. He hands her a golden apple. “Happy aniversary, my love.”
6:31
(aaron.grey) “You shouldn’t have,” I say, snatching the apple.
6:31
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) “It’s stolen.”
6:31
(aaron.grey) I trade him a peacock feather.

Mackenzie Weaver
AIM
6:31
I do not realize how bad the words are, but I do not care for Hera’s smile. I’m going to casually ensure that someone of my blood will destroy Hera down the line. Magic plz. I pop out another baby so it can tear my womb on the way out for some good ol’ blood. I transfer it to my breast. “Wars are at least interesting,” I say, dismissively. “And for each of my children you kill, you will bring your time closer to an end.” I shrug. “It is of no matter to me.”

[Hands of Power]
AIM
6:33
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) The Morrigan: “War is glorious.”
6:33

(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Hera: “Athena, the plan will have to change.”
6:34
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Apollo sighs.
6:35
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Manny laughs. “Oh, she’s already close to being broken.”
6:36
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Athena thinks all of three seconds, then looks to Coatlique. “Your children, those who sacrifice, they will sacrifice your other children to draw their power. The three have spoken. (Atlanteans) cannot be killed with such sacrifices.”
6:36
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Manny appears next to Danu. “The seas can sink many of your islands.”
6:37
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Danu goes not like this idea.

6:38
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Apollo: “I will send my arrows to kill those of our enemies.”
6:38
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) He draws his bow…
6:38
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) And earns Danu’s eternal ire thanks to violating a magic 1 spell.
6:40
(aaron.grey) Perfect. His goden bow will draw the attention of all gathered. I have come back, and with crocodile heart in hand, I’ll make the switch. Coatlicue, upon drawing out her heart as the price of this bargain, will look upon the golden streaks with the others, and then, in her hand, she’ll hold the heart of a crocodile.

Mackenzie Weaver
AIM
6:42
I look to his bow then, and then turn my attention back to the others. “And in return for that, and for me continuing to live—thoe are what I ask. And then you can have your time in the light until it is time for you to be torn down.”

[Hands of Power]

6:43
(aaron.grey) No matter. She can even keep her cursed heart in her chest. I can become no larger than a tiny insect, worming my way up inside the mother of monsters. Hidden with me is the heart, and I’ll swap it for the crocodile’s.
6:47
(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Apollo gives 0 shits about Danu so he shoots it all. Hera looks to Manny. “And what do you bring to the table except what our own gods can do?”

(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Danu: “We seek only a homeland for our people.”

6:22
(aaron.grey) Or no, a crocodile. Yes, that will do nicely.

(endicottkid@yahoo.com) Manannan appears beside Fand, invisible to all but her. He hands her a golden apple. “Happy aniversary, my love.”
6:31
(aaron.grey) “You shouldn’t have,” I say, snatching the apple.

6:40
(aaron.grey) Perfect. His goden bow will draw the attention of all gathered. I have come back, and with crocodile heart in hand, I’ll make the switch.
